Complete Time Management Material & Project
Time Management
In this section, you make the settings for Time Management.
Note:
Time Management is used in various components of Personnel
Administration.
It is advisable to set up the entire Personnel Administration application
before implementing Time Management. The following steps are
particulary important: Environment, Personal data and Organizational
data.
Work Schedules
In this section, you make the settings required for creating work
schedules in your enterprise. Work schedules are shift schedules which
must be generated for all employees, even those with a set working time
(salaried employees) or flextime. Elements of the work schedule include
daily work schedules, period work schedules, and work schedule rules.
Define Public Holiday Classes
In this step, you assign public holiday classes to the holidays defined in
the public holiday calendar.
Example
In your collective agreement, the holiday bonus for Labor Day is higher
than the bonus for Independence Day. Assign the public holiday class "1"
to Labor Day and "3" to Independence Day.
Requirements
You have defined public holiday calendars.
Standard settings
In the standard SAP system, the public holiday class "1" is assigned to all
public holidays except for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. These days
are assigned public holiday class "2".
Recommendation
- Assign holiday classes to your public holidays.
- Use public holiday class "2" for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve if you do not want these days to be processed in the same way
as other public holidays.
Activities
1. Define the public holiday classes for your public holidays.
2. Call the "Change public holidays" function.
3. Select the public holiday you want to change, and choose the "Change" function.
4. On the second screen, enter the required public holiday class, and save your entry.
5. Finally, generate all your public holiday calendars.
Further notes
Changes in the public holiday calendar are not client-specific. The authorization for maintaining public holidays should not be assigned to
all administrators.
If you have generated work schedules before making changes to the public holiday calendar, you must generate the work schedules
again.
Public holiday classes are used only in the HR module (Personnel Administration). They are required for payroll, wage type generation,
absence counting, day types , and for the rules for daily work schedule variants.
The public holiday calendar is not updated automatically when you make changes to the Customizing settings. All changes made within
the public holiday calendar must be transported manually. Use your own transport connection.
In the initial screen of the public holiday calendar, choose Calendar -> Transport to include all the public holiday calendar data in one
transport request.
Take note of the information you receive when the public holiday calendar is transported.
Fixed public holiday flag
Fixed public holiday flag.
This public holday falls on the same date every year.
Dependencies
If this date is a non-working day (weekend), it is dropped. It is only used if the field Guaranteed (public holiday maintenance) is marked,
in which case it is shifted to the next working day.
Fixed weekday from date flag
This public holiday falls on a fixed weekday from a particular date.
Distance to Easter
Distance to Easter.
This public holiday has a fixed distance to Easter (Easter Sunday).
Easter Sunday flag
Movable public holiday flag
There is no rule for this public holiday. It must be defined expicitly each year.
Public holiday is not guaranteed
Indicates that the public holiday should not be moved if it falls on a weekend.

Sort field for public holidays
Three-character holiday sort key
Use
The holidays can be sorted in alphabetical order with this key. If several holidays have the same sort criterion, they are also
sorted by the text.
You can use the sort criterion to display logically related holidays in a block, e.g. all holidays for a country.
Procedure
If the public holidays are to be sorted, enter a 3-character key here.
Holiday class
The holiday class specifies the holiday type (optional).
Use
Holiday classes are only used in Human Resources Management. They can be used to determine the time wage type
selection, the daily work schedule variants, the absence counting, etc. for groups of holidays and normal days.
Procedure
The entry of a holiday class is optional.
You can enter a holiday class according to the rules defined in HR.
Factory Calendar
Use
A factory calendar distinguishes between working days and non-working days.
Dependencies
If you have entered an exception rule for non-working days and have selected factory calendar , you must enter a factory
calendar that is relevant to your company.
Start of factory calendar day numbering
Start number from which the factory date is counted.
Use
All days in the factory calendar which are defined as working days are counted from this number. The first working day has
the number "Start number + 1".
These numbers are the factory date.
Procedure
If you want to continue the factory date from a previous factory calendar enter the last factory date in the previous factory
calendar. The first working day in the new factory calendar then gets this factory date, incremented by 1 by the system.
Dependencies
If you do not specify a value when you create the factory calendar, the System sets the value "0", i.e. the first working day
has the factory date "1".
